Open House 2026 at Chiemgau Kaktus

On Saturday, April 25, Chiemgau Kaktus in Bavaria held an open house to kick off the 2026 season. It was my third visit to Michael Kissling’s beautiful greenhouses. So far, he is the cactus grower I know who has the largest selection of hardy cacti and the best quality offerings. His friendliness and warm welcome guarantee you a very pleasant visit there (coffee and cake are on the house!). To anyone still hesitating about going there: Go for it!

With beautiful weather and spring-like temperatures, we took the opportunity to explore the area around Lake Chiemsee. After a lovely visit to Chiemgau Kaktus, we toured Frauen Island and its monastery. The island is accessible by boat year-round. There you’ll find a few nice bars as well as various shops.
